Faster, Higher, Stronger: The Olympics on Screen

The Picture House in Pelham, NY, is presenting Faster, Higher, Stronger: The Olympics on Screen, a weeklong film series exploring the on-screen legacy of the Olympics.
As part of the series, the theater is screening China Heavyweight, a documentary that follows a charismatic former boxing star and state coach who recruits and trains young fighting talent with the hope of discovering China’s next Olympic heroes. Joe Deguardia, the CEO of Star Boxing, will introduce the screening on July 26, 2012. The complete schedule can be found at http://www.thepicturehouse.org/olympics.
The series, which runs from July 20-26, includes an eclectic mix of offerings, including family films (Cool Runnings, Miracle), Oscar-winners (One Day in September), classics (Walk, Don’t Run, Visions of 8), and documentaries on both Olympic medalists (Jesse Owens, Strong!) and aspiring ones (Warrior Champions, China Heavyweight). Special events, such as filmmaker Q&As, and free talks with Sports Writers are scheduled throughout the week.
The Picture House is located 175 Wolfs Lane in Pelham, NY. More information on the Series can be found here (http://thepicturehouse.org/olympics).
