Star Boxing‘s former world champion and Long Island-native Chris Algieri
(20-2, 8 KOs) weighed in this afternoon for his 10-round welterweight bout at Barclays Center in Brooklyn against Ecuador’s Erick Bone (16-2, 8 KOs) tomorrow night (December 5).
Algieri weighed in at 145.8 lbs, and Bone tipped the scales at exactly the same weight – 145.8 lbs. The bearded, well-muscled Algieri was looking fit, ripped and ready for tomorrow’s contest, which will be the main event on Showtime Extreme.
Algieri’s Star Boxing “Stablemate” Joe Smith, Jr. (19-1, 16 KOs), the knockout artist who in between fights is a local 66 laborer, also hit the scales for his light heavyweight contest against firefighter Will Rosinsky (19-2, 10 KOs). Smith weighed in at 173.4 lbs., and Rosinsky’s weight was 173.6 lbs.
Algieri (Huntington) and Smith (ShirleyMastic) are Long Island natives promoted by Star Boxing president Joe DeGuardia.
Another Huntington product, Star Boxing’s Johnny “Hit Man” Hernandez, 138.4 lbs. (5-1, 1 KO) will face Jack Grady, 140.4 lbs. (0-2-1) of Buffalo, NY in a four-round lightweight affair to kickoff the proceedings tomorrownight.
The Algieri vs. Bone fight will be part of a stacked undercard featuring top regional talent. The undercard supports the SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING event headlined by the all-Brooklyn battle between middleweight world champion Daniel “The Miracle Man” Jacobs (30-1, 27 KOs) and former world champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (32-0-1, 23 KOs). In the co-feature, WBA Featherweight World Champion Jesus Cuellar (27-1, 21 KOs) will face exciting Puerto Rican contender Jonathan “Polvo” Oquendo (26-4, 16 KOs).
