January 1, 2010On Wednesday Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing presented VIP Boxing II at Russo’s On The Bay in Howard Beach, NY. Picking up wins on the card were Star Boxing’s heavyweight contender, the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team Captain, “Devastatin” Devin Vargas (18-1, 7KO) and 2004 Olympic teammate Roberto Benitez (6-0, 3KO).

This weekend will see three more members of the Star Boxing stable looking to add impressive victories to their resumes, starting on Friday night when “Marvelous” Tarvis Simms (25-0-1, 11KO) takes on top rated super middleweight Allan Green (28-1, 20KO) in the ten round main event on Showtime’s Showbox: The Next Generation.

On Saturday, the hottest young prospect in all of boxing, jr. middleweight Demetrius Andrade (7-0, 6KO), looks to showcase his skills once again in front of his hometown fans, when he takes on fellow undefeated prospect, Chris Chatman (4-0, 2KO) at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island. The bout is scheduled for six rounds in the jr. middleweight division. It will be Andrade’s, who is co- promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing and Banner Promotions, second fight against a fellow unbeaten prospect at the Twin River in the last month.

Also on Saturday seeing action is jr. middleweight contender Terrance “The Heat” Cauthen (33-5, 9KO). Cauthen takes on Canada’s unbeaten Antonin Decarie (22-0, 6KO) in the main event bout of the evening at The Casino of Montreal in Montreal, Canada. The bout is scheduled for ten rounds.
“Devin and Roberto both picked up good wins on Wednesday, hopefully we pick up three more and make it a clean sweep this weekend,” stated Joe DeGuardia, CEO and founder of Star Boxing. “We have three of our guys taking on three opponents with a combined record of 54-1, so as you can see all three of these fights are very important. Demetrius has the pleasure of fighting at home in front of his hometown fans and supporters, Tarvis and Terrance aren’t that lucky though as they both are having to enter into hostile territory when they take on their respective foes. While we can’t be certain of the outcomes, what we can be certain of is that Demetrius, Tarvis and Terrance all have the ability to put on exciting and entertaining fights for those in attendance and those watching at home on TV.”
